Before & After Treament

During your free consultation its all about you!

We will review your suitability for laser hair removal, plan your tailor made treatments to ensure optimal hair reduction results and talk you through the process and how you can prepare for your treatments.

Before and during your treatment

At your consultation
We will assess the hair and skin in the area to be treated so a small patch of unshaven hair is required to be visible and a photograph will be taken.

Four weeks before your treatment
Avoid sun exposure to the treatment area, and do not use UV tanning beds at all for four weeks before or during treatment.

Two days before your treatment
The treatment area should be exfoliated and shaved completely 2 days prior to treatment to avoid irritation.

On the day of your treatment
We ask that you have completely clean skin for your treatment, without lotions, oils, creams, deodorants or fragrances of any kind.

In between your treatments
Do not wax, tweeze, epilate or use chemical depilatories between laser treatments. Shaving is the only form of hair removal recommended during the course of your treatments.

    After your treatment

    24 hours after your treatment
It is imperative that you avoid excessive heat and chemicals in the treatment area, such as chlorine in swimming pools, hot tubs, sauna’s or working out for 24 hours after laser hair removal treatment.

Upto 72 hours after your treatment
It is normal to experience redness and swelling in the treatment area following laser hair removal. This may persist for several days. Over-the-counter hydrocortisone or aloe vera may be used to alleviate redness and irritation.

    Over the next two weeks
Hair in the treated area will slowly shed, typically over the course of two weeks. Patchiness of hair growth is normal, and will dissipate towards the completion of your laser hair removal treatment series.

    In between your treatments
Use a broad-spectrum sunblock with an SPF of 30 or above on a daily basis (rain or shine), especially when having facial treatments.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    IS LASER HAIR REMOVAL PERMANENT?

Laser hair removal is the only treatment that offers a permanent reduction of unwanted hair.  Shaving, waxing, threading and plucking only provide temporary reduction.  In some cases, up to 100% of the hair can be removed using our technology.

WHY IS LASER BETTER THAN IPL?

IPL is older technology, is most effective in treating darker hair on fair skin and is quite painful and time consuming.  Lasers use the exact wavelength required to penetrate directly in to the hair follicle, maximising the delivery of energy in to the follicle while leaving the surrounding skin undamaged.  There is usually no downtime required following treatment.

    IS LASER HAIR REMOVAL PAINFUL?

This is probably the most frequently asked question!  Most people experience very little discomfort during Laser treatment with us and most say it was much less painful than they were expecting.  It is less painful than waxing.  We have methods of cooling the skin before, during and after treatment so any potential discomfort can be further reduced. We carry out a patch test at consultation which enables the client to experience the sensation in a small patch.

    IS LASER HAIR REMOVAL SAFE?

We have invested in world-leading, medical grade technology and the highest level of training for our staff to ensure the safety of our clients is paramount in all we do.  The Lightsheer ® has undergone extensive clinical trials with outstanding results for safety and efficiency.

WHY SHOULD I HAVE LASER HAIR REMOVAL?

Lots of our clients say the biggest impact they notice is in their self confidence.  As Laser Hair Removal offers permanent removal or reduction you can finally be rid of the limitations caused by unwanted hair, whether it’s on your face or elsewhere on the body.   As well as reduction in the hair and improved self confidence clients also notice an improvement in the condtion of the skin in the treated area.

    POLYCYSTIC OVARY SYNDROME (PCOS)

Laser Hair Removal is a great option for women suffering with PCOS.  Clients have seen a dramatic reduction in excessive hair after treatment.  We recommend a course of 6-8 treatments initially followed by maintenance every 3-4 months if required.

    WHEN WILL I SEE RESULTS?

Results can be seen from as early as 2 weeks after the first treatment but more commonly, results are evident after 3-4 treatments.  We recommend a minimum of 6 treatments for best results.

    TREATMENT DURATION & FREQUENCY?

Treatment duration is determined by the area being treated but typically last from 10 to 60 minutes.

As a guide to treatment frequency, the upper body (waist upwards) is every 4-6 weeks initially and lower body is 6-8.  The time between treatments gets longer as the hair regrowth slows as a result of treatment. Treatment plans are tailor made for each individual.
